Dear
Tommy,
Thanks
to you we had a wonderful trip in Vietnam.
Everything
you had organized was just perfect – the hotels (Sofitel
Metropole Hanoi Hotel, Luxury Jasmine Junk in Halong Bay, La
Residence Hue, the Nam Hai Resort, Six Senses Ana Mandara,
Caravelle Saigon Hotel) were absolutely the top, service
everywhere perfect, the sun was shining even in Hanoi – so
what else could we have wished.
We
changed a few things on the schedule to see more of what we were
looking for – all changes went very smoothly.
The
three guides were very nice and pleasant to be with. Sa was the
most competent and spoke the best English.
So
on the whole we are very pleased wit our trip and your
organization of it all.
We´ll
certainly recommend you to everyone we know is going to Vietnam.
It
was nice meeting you and thank you once again for the beautiful
gifts.
Warm
regards

Tommy,
First let us say...thank you very much for everything. Our
trip was fascinating and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know
your country. The execution of our trip was flawless and
your planning was excellent. We are VERY glad that we did not
change our plans and continued on to see the Mekong and more of
Saigon it was one of our most favorite stops. I'd
like to summarize some specific feedback below, none of it is
meant to be critical just thought for future trips.
Guides:
All of our guides were wonderful and knowledgeable people.
We loved learning from them and getting to know each of them
individually. As I cannot spell all of their individual
names I will give you feedback by the guide in each location and
will rank them below.
#1, Our favorite guide was in Hue/Hoi An, Phan Van Vinh, he was
extremely knowledgeable, easy to understand and very prepared.
#2, Hanoi, The, he also spoke very good English and was very
knowledgeable and flexible with the few changes we made during
our day in Hanoi.
#3, Siem Reap, we cannot remember his name, he was also very
knowledgeable.
#4 Mekong Delta, Nhon was the most difficult to understand,
although he spoke very good English his comprehension of the
language was not as good as the other guides. He had to be
prompted with questions and did not provide quite as much
information as the others. Please understand that we liked
him very much just had more difficulty communicating.
Apparently, Mr. An was not available? As we only spent 1/2
day with Mr. An in Saigon at the very beginning of the trip we
really can't remember him very well in order to comment.
Itinerary:
We are very glad we got to see as many places as we did.
However, the moving around so much was tiring. I would
have liked to have had one more day in Hanoi to walk around on
our own. I didn't know it was going to be the rainy season
in the central region as I might have tried to spend less time
there (we had 4 nights and it rained the entire time). I
know you cannot control the weather. We really would not
have wanted to miss anything we saw so I'm not sure how I would
have changed the itinerary.
Hotels:
Majestic: Lovely, great location, Riverview suite
great....a little noisy as it is on the street. Breakfast
great.
Raffles Siem Reap: Great, room lovely, pool great.
Fancy restaurant overpriced and not worth it. Better
restaurants in town. Breakfast great.
Metropole: Wonderful, our favorite hotel, wish we had more
time there. Opera suite was beautiful and over looked the
interior courtyard.
Pilgrimage Village: Lovely, room great. Didn't
really get to enjoy the pool or grounds as it rained the entire
time we were there. Good breakfast.
Boat (can't remember the name): Suite was great.
Food was good. There was only one other couple on the boat
with us so it was really nice. Rained so not quite as
pretty as it could have been.
Riverside hotel Hoi An: Not good. I know you
suggested that we should stay somewhere else and you were right.
Room was okay but ceiling leaked and it was dark. It was
raining the entire time we were in Hoi An so that also added our
dislike of the hotel. Life Resort would have been better
and I think it still would have been walking distance from town.
The reason I chose this hotel is so we could be close to town.
Breakfast was poor.
La Veranda: Lovely hotel, great setting, room was great
beachfront. Food at this hotel was good, service was
excellent. Not much on the island but very relaxing.
Victoria Can Tho: Our room was hugh and very nice.
Great location, took boat into town. Breakfast great.
Restaurants:
Christmas eve dinner at Metropole: Lovely atmosphere.
Food good but overpriced. Very special for Christmas
Restaurants recommended by hotel in Siem Reap was our favorite,
the name of the restaurant is Viroth's.
Dinners in Saigon both were great.
Dinner at Victoria Can Tho was fine
All lunches provided by the guides were good, especially the one
in Hoi An which was one of our favorites. Also the lunch
we had in Hanoi (Pho 24) and the Mekong were especially good.
Overall,
our trip was fascinating and we loved it. You were a
pleasure to work with and all of the guides were wonderful,
helpful and made our trip as easy as possible. We really
didn't have to worry about a thing. I would be very happy
to act as a reference if you ever need one and we will be sure
to drop you a line if we plan another trip to Southeast Asia.
Thanks again for all your help. Happy New Year!
